Mark Pacoe of New York will present a concert on the Piedmont College Sewell Organ at 7:30 p.m., Friday, Nov. 11, in the Chapel at the Demorest campus. The concert is sponsored by the Atlanta Chapter of the American Guild of Organists (AGO).
Pacoe is director of music and organist at the recently formed parish of St. John Nepomucene, St. John the Martyr, and St. Frances Xavier Cabrini in Manhattan and Roosevelt Island. He served as director of music for St. Malachy’s Church in Manhattan and was also artistic director of the acclaimed “Concerts at St. Malachy’s” series. He currently serves on the AGO New York City Chapter executive board.
His debut recording “Crossroads—Music from St. Malachy’s—The Actors’ Chapel, Times Square” was released in October 2015.
For the Piedmont Concert, Pacoe will perform works by Henri Mulet, Marin Marais, Dietrich Buxtehude, Petr Eben, Johann Sebastian Bach, George Shearing, William Bolcom, and Guy Bovet.
Originally from Butler, Pennsylvania, Pacoe earned degrees from Duquesne University and East Carolina University, and he did post-graduate studies at the Eastman School of Music, University of Rochester. He has performed numerous organ concerts across the U.S. and Europe.
