There is nothing more precious than a newborn baby. To me, it is God’s way of saying the world will go on.
I do not pretend to know the beauty and wonder of God. Why He would choose to come to earth as a newborn baby; grow and mature into a teenager, a young adult, and then a man is beyond me.
Did He have a choice? I believe so. The night of Jesus’ arrest and betrayal by Judas, Jesus responded to Peter’s attack on the soldier by saying, “Do you think I cannot call on my Father, and he will at once put at my disposal more than twelve legions of angels? ” (Matthew 26:53). So, yes. He could’ve done a million things differently. Why He had to suffer so severely in order for us to be saved is something we will learn only when we are in Heaven.
As I hold my new grandbaby, I am reminded of my belief in my loving, wonderful God; at the same time, I am very much aware of His belief in us. It stirs my heart to consider the fact that God believes in us. He believes in our ability to represent Him; to make a difference in the people on this earth; to change lives; to help and nurture people; to share His Word and love. And from this belief in us as His people stems His desire to continue on.
I do not have all the answers. No one does. But as I hold this tiny, innocent baby in my over-sized hands, my heart yearns to make this world better for her. I don’t want the world I see now for her. The reality is change begins very simply with each one of us. It is an internal decision to stop acting in one way and act in God’s way.
John 3:17, “For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through Him.”
Every new birth is a new chance to get it right.
Every new day is a choice by us to live God’s way.
I challenge you today to make the necessary changes in your heart, in your life, in your attitude, in your actions to change the world – one precious life at a time.
