The Forbidden Truth

They were warned. Genesis 2:17 reads, “…but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat from it you will certainly die.”

They were warned of what would happen if they ate the fruit. It wasn’t like they weren’t surrounded by other fruit trees which they could eat and eat and eat. If Adam and Eve chose to eat of the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil they would change everything for everybody for life. And they did.

The reality of their decision is simply the reality of today. Every day we are given an opportunity to do what is right or what is wrong. The scriptures instruct us of the consequences of our choice; yet, we do it anyway.

Enter Jesus Christ. Chosen to deliver us from our mistakes. Chosen to snatch the keys of death from Satan. Chosen to be our Savior.

Death belongs to Satan. It is going to happen to every person on the planet. There is no avoiding death. It is imminent. And Jesus Christ experienced death just like we will when He died on the Cross.

Hebrews 2:14-15 says, “Since the children are made of flesh and blood, it’s logical that the Savior took on flesh and blood in order to rescue them by his death. By embracing death, taking it into himself, he destroyed the Devil’s hold on death and freed all who cower through life, scared to death of death.”

Ahhhhh…but this is where the story gets good. By dying, by experiencing death, by suffering, He destroyed the Devil’s hold on death and freed us for eternity.

Colossians 2:15 reads, “And having disarmed the powers and authorities, he made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross.”

It isn’t a matter of IF it is a matter of WHERE. In other words, when you die – and you will – WHERE will you spend eternity? Choose to know and live accordingly.
