Driver facing charges after rollover wreck in Cleveland

A driver involved in a single-vehicle rollover wreck in White County now faces charges after an investigation by Georgia State Patrol determined she was allegedly impaired when the accident occurred.

Karla Miller, 47, of Hiawassee, is charged with DUI and other traffic offenses after the accident in the area of Highway 254 and Ray Palmer Road in Cleveland on Tuesday.

GSP’s investigation concluded a Cadillac SRX driven by Miller traveled westward around a curve when she allegedly failed to maintain lane. The Cadillac then traveled off the south side of the roadway, according to GSP, before striking a ditch and several road signs.

Authorities say Miller had to be extricated from the Cadillac after the vehicle overturned and left her entrapped. She was treated on scene and then transported to Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville.

The wreck, which occurred around 12:16 p.m., left Highway 254 and Ray Palmer Road temporarily closed as emergency crews worked to clear the roadway and removed the vehicle from the scene. Roads were reopened at approximately 1:15 p.m.
