It was an early morning wake-up call for firefighters who responded to a report of a structure fire in Mt. Airy.

Around 6:16 a.m. Friday, September 3, Habersham 911 dispatched units to 300 Judd Pitts Road. Firefighters arrived to find a 5th wheel camper on fully involved, says county emergency services director Chad Black.

“This structure had been being used as a primary residence but occupants had stayed overnight at another location,” Black says. Firefighters contained and extinguished the blaze. They were on scene for nearly two hours.

The State Fire Marshal’s Office is looking into the cause of the fire.
